TAMPA, Fla. – Residents in Tampa started Thursday morning under a thick blanket of dense fog, which is expected to clear by 10 a.m. to reveal partly sunny skies. The high for today will reach 75 degrees, though a 20 percent chance of light showers remains possible after 1 p.m. as calm morning winds shift to the west at 5 to 8 mph.

The calm pattern continues into Thursday night with a low near 55 degrees and the return of patchy fog after 11 p.m. under mostly cloudy skies. Friday follows a similar trend, featuring early morning fog that should lift by 9 a.m., leading to a mostly sunny afternoon with a high of 77 degrees and a light northern breeze.

The weekend begins on a clear note Saturday, with high temperatures climbing to 81 degrees and southeast winds between 5 and 8 mph. However, cloud cover will increase Saturday night as lows settle at 60 degrees, signaling a shift in the local weather pattern.

Significant changes arrive on Sunday.

While the morning may see only a slight chance of rain, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms jumps to 50 percent after 1 p.m. It will also be a breezy day, with south winds reaching 17 mph and gusts as high as 26 mph.

The high is expected to hit 81 degrees. Weather conditions will likely turn wetter Sunday night, with an 80 percent chance of rain and potential thunderstorms as temperatures dip to 61 degrees.

For those planning activities on Washington’s Birthday, the holiday will start with a 40 percent chance of showers and storms before 1 p.m. Conditions are expected to dry out in the afternoon, becoming mostly sunny with a high of 74 degrees. The early part of next week appears stable, with sunny skies and highs returning to the upper 70s by Tuesday.
