Forget The Web Browser: New Tech Lets You Buy Instantly Inside Your DMs

If you have ever spotted a product on social media and tapped the link, only to get annoyed by a slow website or a clunky checkout form, you aren’t alone. That frustration might soon be a thing of the past.

Two technology companies, Mind Over Media and Skipify, announced a partnership today that aims to fix the “too many clicks” problem. Their new tool lets shoppers find products and buy them directly inside a chat window—whether that is on Instagram, WhatsApp, or a text message—without ever leaving the conversation.

This move comes as shopping through social apps accelerates, with the market expected to reach nearly $2 trillion by 2026. While browsing on social media is easy, buying has historically been the hard part. usually, a customer has to click a link, wait for a browser to load, and then manually type in shipping and billing information. This new partnership removes those extra steps.

The companies call it a “Checkout-in-Chat” experience.

The system works by combining Mind Over Media’s artificial intelligence with Skipify’s digital wallet technology. Mind Over Media provides the “agentic” experience—essentially a smart AI bot that can hold a conversation, answer questions about a product, and build a shopping cart in the background. Skipify provides the identity and payment layer. According to the announcement, Skipify’s tech can recognize about 62% of shoppers instantly using basic signals like an email or phone number.

Once the system recognizes the shopper, it securely pulls their payment details directly from their financial institution. This means the customer doesn’t have to type in a credit card number or fill out a form. The companies claim this method is not only faster but also more reliable, boasting a 99% authorization rate on transactions.

Andy Anderson, CEO of Mind Over Media, believes the days of multi-step checkouts are numbered. “The industry has long accepted a high-friction, multi-step journey as the cost of doing business online, but that era is over,” Anderson said. “This isn’t just about conversation; it’s about conversion without compromise.” He added that this allows a brand’s AI to guide a customer from saying “hello” to finishing a purchase inside a single direct message with zero redirects.

Ryth Martin, CEO of Skipify, noted that security is central to the project. The integration uses a specific technology called an Agentic Module to ensure that while the AI manages the chat, the payment remains secure and trusted.

“Our Agentic Module enables trusted agents to transact instantly and securely within the conversation itself,” Martin said, calling it the “most direct path from intent to purchase ever created.”

For brands, this offers a way to sell to customers exactly where they are communicating, rather than risking the loss of a sale by sending them to a separate website.
