The political landscape shifted dramatically this week as former Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene joined a growing chorus of conservative voices calling for President Donald Trump’s removal from office.
The fallout follows a series of public threats made by the President, in which he warned of the total destruction of Iranian civilization if U.S. terms to end the ongoing conflict were not met.
Speaking on CNN’s The Situation Room on Thursday, Greene characterized the President’s rhetoric as evidence of mental instability. Her public break from Trump began Tuesday on X, where she responded to the President’s warnings with a demand for constitutional intervention.
“25TH AMENDMENT!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization,” Greene posted. “This is evil and madness.”
The tension escalated after Trump issued a deadline for Iran to agree to a ceasefire. While the President postponed a planned military strike after Iran briefly met an 8 p.m. Tuesday deadline—reopening the Strait of Hormuz—the peace proved fragile.

Subsequent Israeli military actions in Lebanon prompted Iran to close the critical oil waterway again, reigniting the threat of large-scale U.S. intervention.
Greene argued that the President’s willingness to broadcast such threats to the world demonstrates he is unfit to serve.
“It’s absolute madness. How can any person that is mentally stable call for an entire civilization of people to be murdered, to be wiped out, to never come back again?” Greene told CNN. “And that shows that there’s serious instability in his thinking that he would not only say that in a private room, perhaps with his advisors, but actually go to his megaphone, his Truth Social, and post that for the entire country and the entire world.”
Greene is not alone in this stance. A notable segment of the conservative media and political sphere has aligned against the President’s recent foreign policy directives. Infowars host Alex Jones called on Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment, while podcaster Candace Owens labeled the President a “genocidal lunatic.”

Other prominent figures joining the call for removal include former White House counsel Ty Cobb, former Illinois Representative Joe Walsh, and The American Conservative founding editor Scott McConnell. Additionally, Tucker Carlson stated on his program that military aides should refuse orders that would result in the slaughter of Iranian civilians.
The rift marks the definitive end of the once-close relationship between Greene and Trump. The bond reportedly began to fray in June 2025 following Greene’s criticism of previous strikes on Iran and her public demands for the full release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
