A 46-year-old Florida woman was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit through Key Largo.
Alicia Nichole Longley, of Fort Myers, faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and refusal to submit to a breath test. No injuries were reported during the incident.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first spotted a BMW sedan traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 102 at approximately 3:08 a.m. When law enforcement attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the scene.
Deputies reported that the BMW turned into several local neighborhoods in an apparent attempt to lose the pursuing officers.
Law enforcement later located the vehicle parked at a residence on Janet Place in Key Largo. Longley was identified as the driver at the scene.
During the subsequent investigation, deputies discovered dextroamphetamine and lisdexamfetamine in her possession. Authorities stated Longley did not hold a prescription for either controlled substance.
Longley was taken into custody and transported to the local jail.
