ORLANDO, FL. – Disney is hosting their educational mentorship program which started on March 3, and runs through Sunday, March 6, at the Disney theme parks in Orlando.
Better known as “Disney Dreamers Academy”, it is celebrating 15 years. Every year black high school students and teens from underrepresented communities apply from across the country to have a chance to participate. To qualify, they must be creative, eager to learn and be dedicated to their dream.
Those students selected are given the opportunity for a great education experience including workshops, networking, motivational speakers including both cast members and celebrities. Time to visit the theme parks is also included. This years’ event is hosting 100 students.
To kick off the event, a special parade strolled down Main Street USA featuring this years’ ambassador for the event, Kelly Rowland.
She will be mentoring and giving the students insight along with following up on their progress.
Rowland is a famous singer, songwriter, and actress, who is best known for being a part of Destiny’s Child.
Other highlights from her career have been a judge on The X-Factor, and roles in Freddy vs Jason & The Seat Filler.
She is a winner and has sold over 30 million albums as a solo career and over 60 million with Destiny’s Child. She also shares a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Destiny’s Child.
