Fox News Clinches Primetime Victory As ABC Hits Historic Ratings Low

Fox News Channel outpaced both ABC and CBS in primetime viewership during the week of July 6, according to recent data from Nielsen Media Research Big Data + Panel.

The cable news network drew more than 2.4 million weekday primetime viewers and 2.1 million viewers for its Monday-through-Sunday primetime block. By comparison, ABC brought in 2.1 million weekday primetime viewers and 1.9 million across the full week. CBS finished the week with 2 million weekday primetime viewers and 1.952 million for the full seven-day primetime period.

Nielsen data also revealed that ABC recorded its lowest-rated primetime week of the 21st century within the key 25-54 age demographic, averaging 279,000 viewers.

For Fox News, the full-week total day average reached nearly 1.5 million viewers, while its weekday total day average cleared 1.7 million. The network’s panel show, “The Five,” led the weekly lineup with over 3.3 million total viewers, including 279,000 in the 25-54 age bracket.

Other evening programs on the network also drew consistent audiences. “Special Report with Bret Baier” averaged 2.6 million viewers at 6 p.m. ET, followed by “The Ingraham Angle” at 7 p.m. ET with over 2.4 million. In the 8 p.m. ET hour, “Jesse Watters Primetime” attracted nearly 2.6 million viewers, while “Hannity” brought in nearly 2.1 million at 9 p.m. ET. Later in the night, “Fox News @ Night with Trace Gallagher” secured 1.4 million viewers at 11 p.m. ET.

In the late-night slot, the 10 p.m. ET program “Gutfeld!” averaged more than 2.6 million viewers. This surpassed the viewership of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” which drew 1.8 million viewers, and the first hour of CBS’s “Comics Unleashed,” which drew 809,000. It also outpaced Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” at 425,000 viewers and Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” at 274,000 viewers.

Fox News daytime shows also moved ahead of certain broadcast network programs during the same week. “America’s Newsroom” and “The Story with Martha MacCallum” both reached 1.8 million viewers. “The Faulkner Focus” and “Outnumbered” each pulled in 1.7 million, while “America Reports” averaged 1.6 million. “The Will Cain Show” hit 2 million viewers at 4 p.m. ET. These daytime figures placed the programs ahead of NBC’s “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle,” which had 1.4 million viewers, and ABC’s “GMA3,” which stood at 1.5 million.

The network’s weekend programming maintained a steady audience as well. On Saturday, “Saturday In America” with Kayleigh McEnany drew nearly 1.6 million viewers. “Fox News Live” with Aishah Hasnie reached almost 1.3 million, and “The Big Weekend Show” secured nearly 1.2 million. In the Saturday evening block, “Life, Liberty, & Levin” had over 1.1 million viewers, “My View with Lara Trump” drew 1.1 million, and “Fox News Saturday Night” with Jimmy Failla finished with almost 1.1 million.

Sunday’s lineup was led by “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo, which pulled in nearly 1.9 million viewers to become the highest-rated cable news program of the weekend. “The Sunday Briefing,” anchored by Peter Doocy, attracted more than 1.5 million viewers, while the Sunday edition of “Fox News Live” with Mike Emanuel brought in over 1.4 million.

“The Big Weekend Show” climbed to over 1.7 million viewers on Sunday evening. In Sunday primetime, “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” averaged nearly 1.8 million viewers, “Life, Liberty, & Levin” saw over 1.5 million, and “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade” drew more than 1.3 million.
