That people are hungry for a non-woke alternative to the alleged “comedy” of Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon.

Fox’s Gutfeld Shines Early On In Late-Night TV Battles

Fox News funnyman – yes, you read that right – Greg Gutfeld got the early last laugh on the wokesters imitating late-night talk-show hosts.

Fox recently moved Gutfeld’s weekly Saturday night show – which features the host’s monologue and a panel discussion of news events laced with parody – to weeknights at 11 p.m. to compete with the networks.

Left-wing critics hooted and howled. For example, CNN’s Brian Stelter, who never met a liberal or an éclair he didn’t like, claimed that this was somehow evidence of Fox News moving “further” to the right – as though his perspective might not be skewed by how far to the left his own network has veered in the Trump era.

Nonetheless, Gutfeld started on Monday night and its debut beat all other late-night shows, news, or entertainment, with the exception of Stephen Colbert.

“Gutfeld!” pulled in an average of 1.681 million total viewers, according to early Nielsen Media Research ratings data. Of those, 318,000 were in the advertiser-coveted age demographic of 25 to 54.

As columnist Brad Slager of the conservative website RedState noted, “Making this more significant is the show appearing on a cable channel outperforming those on the broadcast networks.”

“That the stalwarts like Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel would lag him is significant. Of course, the real indicator will be seen in the coming months. If the show can hold up at this level — or grow its audience — that will be the real indicator of the heft of this initial performance. Gutfeld, so far, has shown he has enough of a draw to justify this decision by Fox News.”

Slager may be right. Gutfeld may not maintain his bright start.

But Fox News has thumped its rivals in the cable news business for two decades because it gives viewers something they cannot find elsewhere: conservative voices and conservative perspectives.

Given the tiresome sameness of the left-wing drivel spewed by Gutfeld’s rivals on the national and cable networks, Fox apparently entered this realm perfectly comfortable in asking viewers the same question Donald Trump posed to black voters in 2016: “What the hell have you got to lose?”
