HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Local families looking to stretch their grocery budgets while keeping an eye on their health have a major opportunity waiting for them this weekend.
On Saturday, April 18, the Hillsborough County Healthy Living Program is taking over the Lesley “Les’’ Miller, Jr. All People’s Community Park & Life Center for a high-impact community health fair.
The morning kicks off early at 6105 E. Sligh Ave., where a food distribution will run from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Through a partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay, organizers are handing out a variety of kitchen essentials, ranging from fresh produce and meats to shelf-stable staples like rice, beans, and canned goods.
Notably, the county is keeping the gates open to everyone—there are no income restrictions or requirements to qualify for the free groceries.

While the food distribution wraps up by mid-morning, the rest of the health fair keeps rolling until noon. Neighbors can drop in for free health screenings and vaccinations, which are being offered based on availability.
Staff will also be on-site to walk residents through the specifics of the Hillsborough County Health Care Plan and the various perks of the Healthy Living Program. To keep things family-friendly, the county is mixing the medical services with live giveaways and activities designed specifically for children.
This event serves as a physical storefront for the Healthy Living Program’s year-round mission. Outside of this weekend’s fair, the program operates fitness centers and hosts group exercise sessions, nutritional counseling, and cooking classes across the county.
Whether you need help managing diabetes or just want to learn how to prep healthier meals, these resources are permanently available to locals.
Residents who can’t make it to Sligh Avenue on Saturday can still get details on these services or the county health plan by calling (813) 272-5040.
