TAMPA, Fla. — If you live in Hillsborough County and could use a little extra help with groceries this week, you’ll want to mark your calendar for Saturday morning.

Hillsborough County’s Healthy Living Program is taking over the Lee Davis Community Resource Center in Tampa this Saturday, Jan. 24, for a community health fair. It’s a dual-purpose event: they are handing out free groceries to start the day, followed by a morning of health services and family activities.

The grocery distribution kicks off right at 9 a.m. at the center on North 22nd Street. Thanks to a partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay, the packages are set to include the essentials—fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, and pantry staples like beans and rice.

One key detail for residents: There are no income restrictions. You don’t need to prove financial need to get in line; if you are a resident, you are eligible. The food giveaway runs until 10:30 a.m., so it’s best to arrive early.

Even after the food distribution wraps up, the event continues until noon. Residents can stick around for free health screenings and vaccinations, depending on availability. It’s also set up to be family-friendly, with activities planned to keep kids entertained and various giveaways throughout the morning.

Staff will also be on the ground to chat about what the Healthy Living Program offers year-round. For those who don’t know, the county runs several centers that provide free access to exercise rooms, nutritional counseling, and classes on things like cooking and diabetes management.
