Free Groceries And Health Perks: Plant City Fair Opens To All Hillsborough Residents Saturday

PLANT CITY, Fla. – Hillsborough County residents looking to stock their pantries and check on their well-being can head to Plant City this weekend. On Saturday, June 13, the county’s Healthy Living Program is hosting a community health fair that will hand out free groceries and offer several health services at no cost.

The food distribution kicks off at 9 a.m. and runs until 10:30 a.m. at the Plant City Community Resource Center, located at 307 N. Michigan Ave. Organizers noted that there are no income restrictions required to receive the food. The groceries are supplied through a partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay and generally include a mix of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, canned goods, and everyday staples like rice and beans.

While the grocery giveaway ends at 10:30 a.m., the wider health fair will keep going until noon. People who attend can get free health screenings and, depending on availability, vaccinations. The weekend event also features activities for children, various giveaways, and information about the county’s Health Care Plan.

The Healthy Living Program is running the fair as part of its ongoing push to provide on-site lifestyle resources to locals. Beyond special events, the program operates fitness centers and provides educational activities across the county. Residents can take free courses on healthy cooking, weight loss, and diabetes management, or they can join group exercise sessions and sit down for nutritional counseling at Healthy Living Centers.

Anyone wanting more details about Saturday’s fair, the Healthy Living Program, or the Hillsborough County Health Care Plan can visit HCFL.gov/HealthCare or call (813) 272-5040 and press option 7.
