Crews rolled out the first wave of new signage at the main terminal in Palm Beach, Florida, officially rebranding the facility as the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The structural makeover follows legislation signed into law this past March by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Former President Donald Trump reacted to the change Thursday evening via Truth Social, writing, “A very big day in Palm Beach, Florida, where it was my Great Honor to have the Palm Beach International Airport be renamed, by a spectacular vote, The President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The Area is HOT, the Location is GREAT, and the Renovation will be SPECTACULAR. Thank you to all in Palm Beach for your Vote and your Confidence. This will soon be one of the Greatest and Most Spectacular Airports anywhere in the World! President DONALD J. TRUMP”.
The first plane to touch down at the newly designated airfield was “Trump Force One,” a Boeing 757 belonging to the Trump Organization.
The aircraft landed shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday, carrying Eric Trump, who noted that his family frequently uses the airport because of its proximity to the Mar-a-Lago estate.
“There is no person who has done more for Florida and our country, and no one more deserving of this incredible honor,” Eric Trump posted on X. “As a son, and someone who flies out of this airport nearly every day, I will forever be proud to see the initials ‘DJT’ on my boarding pass.”
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also shared a video tracking the initial physical updates to the building while highlighting the airport’s new digital presence under the social media handle @fly_DJT.
According to state official estimates reported by PBS, the entire scope of the rebranding project—which encompasses physical highway markers, internal airport signage, and digital systems—is expected to cost up to $5.5 million. The Federal Aviation Administration will officially update the airport’s three-letter location identifier code from PBI to DJT on August 18.
Local airport authorities advised passengers via Facebook that the complete visual overhaul will take time. Officials noted that travelers will likely see a mix of the classic PBI branding and the new DJT elements existing side-by-side inside the terminal during the upcoming weeks.
