From Scorching Heat Index To Late-Week Relief: What To Expect In Tampa Bay’s Upcoming Weather

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay residents can expect a week filled with high humidity, shifting rain chances, and a noticeable temperature drop by Thursday, according to the latest regional meteorological reports.

The week kicks off with mostly cloudy skies tonight and a low temperature dropping to around 77 degrees under calm winds. Monday brings a 30 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, primarily concentrated between noon and 4 p.m. While it will remain partly sunny with a high near 90 degrees, high humidity levels are expected to push the heat index as high as 98 degrees. West winds will hover between 6 to 13 mph, occasionally bringing gusts up to 21 mph. Monday night stays mostly cloudy, dropping down to 77 degrees with a gentle 5 to 8 mph west breeze.

Conditions carry over into Tuesday with a slightly lower 20 percent chance of midday precipitation and a high near 91 degrees. Once again, real-feel heat index levels are predicted to spike near 98 degrees. Winds will maintain a west-northwesterly direction at 6 to 10 mph.

The most dramatic shift in the local weather pattern takes place Tuesday night. Precipitation chances surge to 70 percent, with rain likely and thunderstorms possible before 2 a.m. Overnight lows will cool to around 72 degrees as west-northwest winds shift to light and variable after midnight.

This wet pattern lingers directly into mid-week. Wednesday opens with a continued chance of rain before showers and storms become likely after 11 a.m. The heavy cloud cover and moisture will hold afternoon high temperatures to around 86 degrees, a measurable drop from earlier in the week. Winds will shift out of the east-northeast at 7 to 10 mph, generating gusts up to 18 mph. Wet conditions persist into Wednesday evening with a 60 percent chance of storms before 8 p.m., followed by an overnight low of 68 degrees.

Drier air starts working its way into the region on Thursday. The area faces a minor 30 percent chance of isolated showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., transitioning to general afternoon thunderstorms. Skies will stay partly sunny with a high near 87 degrees over an easterly wind. Thursday night brings clear relief, turning partly cloudy with a cooler overnight low of 67 degrees.

The upcoming weekend promises plenty of sunshine. Friday drops to a low 20 percent rain chance after 2 p.m., delivering sunny skies and a high near 89 degrees, before settling into a clear 68-degree Friday night. Saturday looks completely dry and mostly sunny with a high of 90 degrees and a low of 70 degrees. Sunday wraps up the extended forecast by returning to standard Florida conditions: mostly sunny skies, a minor 20 percent afternoon storm risk, and a high temperature climbing to 92 degrees.
