From The Fringes To The Center: Stephen Miller Attacks Rising Socialist Influence On Hannity

White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller criticized the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) within the Democratic Party during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s Hannity.

Speaking with host Sean Hannity, Miller framed the rise of DSA-backed primary candidates as a fundamental shift in American politics, arguing that progressive figures once considered on the party’s fringes have now moved to its center.

“All the recent contested primaries in the Democratic Party have been won by socialists and communists,” Miller said during the interview. He asserted that the public’s perception of the Democratic Party has shifted, claiming that low approval ratings stem from policies and platform positions exposed to voters.

Throughout the segment, Miller and Hannity pointed to specific policy proposals put forward by progressive local and national figures, including discussions surrounding criminal justice reform, immigration enforcement, and economic regulation. Miller criticized proposals to alter traditional policing, border enforcement, and institutional governance structures.

“They call themselves the Democratic Socialists. They believe in total state control of capital,” Miller said, characterizing the movement’s core ideology as coercive. He added that the debate over these political philosophies extends beyond typical party disagreements, calling the prevention of far-left policies critical to maintaining current political and economic freedoms.

Hannity noted that 35 DSA-aligned candidates are competing in upcoming midterm races and cited prominent progressive figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders, as leading voices in the modern Democratic movement.

In response, Miller contended that moderate Democratic leaders have hesitated to push back against the party’s left wing. “Not a single leader in the Democratic Party has been willing to condemn the Democratic Socialists of America,” Miller said.

Miller concluded by stating that the administration intends to focus heavily on the debate over economic and political ideologies ahead of upcoming elections, arguing that the consequences of progressive policy victories would lead to economic instability and systemic decline.
