When Young People’s Social Ways Go Global: WePlay Lights Up Times Square (WePlay)

On January 18, a new name lit up the giant screens of Times Square in New York City. WePlay, a social entertainment app known for mixing games with voice chat, displayed its brand message right in the heart of the world’s most famous commercial intersection.

For the Singapore-based company, this wasn’t just an advertisement; it was a signal that their way of connecting young people is moving to a global stage. The message on the screen focused on “Voice + Entertainment + Connection,” highlighting the app’s goal of making it easy for people to hang out and talk while playing games.

The appearance in New York comes at a time when WePlay is seeing massive growth. The app has been downloaded more than 800 million times around the world and has millions of people using it every month. It isn’t just popular in one place, either.

WePlay has hit the number one spot on App Store and Google Play charts in over 15 different regions, including huge markets like the Middle East and Southeast Asia. To keep things fresh for its users, the platform has also teamed up with well-known brands like Care Bears, Zanmang Loopy, and Chibi Maruko-chan.

Behind the scenes, the app is operated by WEJOY PTE. LTD. Their main idea is simple: they want to bring joy and friends to young people, no matter where they live.

By combining casual games with voice features, they are trying to fix the loneliness that can sometimes come with online life. The company describes its platform as a place with “no outsiders,” meaning anyone can log in, find a group, and instantly feel like they belong.

For the users already on the app, seeing the logo in Times Square is a reminder that their community is getting bigger.

Every game played and every voice message sent is part of a network that is now being recognized in the economic center of the world. While it started strong in places like Turkey and the Asia-Pacific region, this latest move shows that WePlay is ready to introduce its style of “gamified social” interaction to a much wider audience.
