POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Frostproof woman was arrested Friday afternoon after authorities said she physically assaulted a 71-year-old neighbor who asked her to stop yelling at neighborhood children.
Jennifer Nemeth, 58, faces a third-degree felony charge of battery on a person 65 years of age or older following the incident on July 17, 2026.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a residence in Frostproof on Friday regarding a reported battery. The responding deputy interviewed both the victim and a witness at the scene.
Sworn written statements provided to law enforcement state that Nemeth was yelling at local children who were playing in the street. The victim walked toward her grandchild and asked Nemeth to stop shouting and return home.
Sheriff’s office records show that Nemeth then charged at the 71-year-old woman, chest-bumped her, shouted at her, and began pushing her. The victim told deputies that the physical contact knocked her off balance.
Based on the statements and evidence collected at the scene, deputies placed Nemeth under arrest and transported her to the Polk County jail.
