TAMPA, Fla. – For the third time Amalie Arena will host the final four of men’s college hockey with a national champ crowned late Saturday evening.

Boston College, in 2012, and North Dakota, in 2016, left Tampa with the national championship trophy.

The action gets underway Thursday when Boston University and Minnesota face off at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal. The nightcap features Michigan and Quinnipiac, which lost the championship game to North Dakota seven years ago.

The semifinal games and the championship game, which gets underway at 8 p.m. Saturday, will be broadcasted on ESPN2.

Minnesota teammates Matthew Knies and Logan Cooley, as well as Michigan’s Adam Fantilli, are Hobey Baker finalists. The award is given to the nation’s top player.

Fantilli leads the nation in scoring with 64 points and Cooley is second with 57. Quinnipiac’s Collin Graf is third with 56.

This year marks Michigan’s 27th Frozen Four appearance, which is the most. Boston University and Minnesota are appearing for the 23rd time, tied for third most.

Quinnipiac is making its third appearance. The Wolverines are tied with Denver for the most championships with nine.
