A multi-state manhunt ended in New York City on Friday when federal marshals arrested a woman wanted in connection with the murder of her 10-year-old stepdaughter.
Adiaratou Coulibaly was taken into custody without incident at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Castle Hill Avenue in the Bronx. Delaware State Police had issued a warrant for Coulibaly charging her with murder by abuse or neglect in the second degree, following a May 27 incident in Smyrna, Delaware.
The U.S. Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force initially requested help from the agency’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force Manhattan Office on June 4 to help track her down.
The victim’s father, Badara Kone, was previously arrested on May 28. He faces charges for the 10-year-old girl’s murder, alongside charges related to the abuse of his two other children.
The operation was a joint effort by the First State Fugitive Task Force, a multi-agency partnership in Delaware that includes the Delaware State Police, Delaware State Probation and Parole, and police departments from Wilmington, New Castle County, Dover, and the University of Delaware. Coulibaly is currently awaiting further legal proceedings following her arrest.
