Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) strongly rejected a claim by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that her recent breaks from Republican leadership are part of a “revenge tour,” instead characterizing her independent stances as a serious desire to achieve legislative results.

Appearing on CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Greene responded directly to Ocasio-Cortez’s argument that her opposition to GOP leadership on issues like the government shutdown and foreign policy was fueled by a thwarted bid for Georgia’s Senate seat.

“No, there’s no truth to it,” Greene stated.

Greene went on to explain that her lack of interest in the upper chamber is due to the legislative paralysis she perceives there. She publicly released a statement earlier this summer explaining her reasons for not seeking the Senate seat.

“If you look at the gridlock in the Senate right now, that actually I find repulsive,” Greene said. “It just shows. Why would I? I’m a serious person. I like to achieve things. I never want to go work somewhere where you can get nothing done.”

The Georgia lawmaker has become a vocal critic of her own party’s direction, citing a failure to deliver on promises for “America First” policies and expressing frustration over the House not being in session while key issues like the cost of living and healthcare remain unaddressed.

Greene further clarified her current political focus, denying other recent rumors regarding her future. She stated that she is not running for Governor or Senate in the upcoming election and that speculation about a 2028 presidential bid is “completely baseless.”

She maintains her sole focus is on her current role in the House of Representatives.
