In a surprise move, conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced Thursday that she will appear on the progressive-leaning ABC talk show, The View, next week on Tuesday—Election Day in several states.
The announcement, which shocked some political observers, comes as the congresswoman has increasingly broken with her party’s leadership, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and other top Republicans, over the month-long government shutdown.
Greene has been a vocal critic of the Republican strategy on the shutdown, advocating for a solution to prevent the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies.
The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg announced the visit to applause and highlighted a rare point of agreement, stating that she and Greene “all… agree on is this should not be affecting the American people.”
Greene has also recently defied her party on other key issues, including opposing President Donald Trump’s decision to bomb nuclear facilities and calling Israel’s war in Gaza a “genocide.”
Her appearance on the daytime show is the latest development in her public escalation against the current Republican establishment.
