A growing divide within the Republican Party over the handling of information related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein erupted into public view on Monday, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) issuing a warning to President Donald Trump: release more details, or risk losing the support of his base.

Without directly naming Epstein, Greene took to social media to criticize the administration for “dangling bits of red meat” instead of delivering on promises of full transparency regarding “deep state treasonous crimes, election interference, blackmail, and rich powerful elite evil cabals.”

She asserted that if the administration fails to “take down every enemy of The People,” the “base will turn and there’s no going back.”

Greene’s pointed message comes amidst heightened scrutiny of the Justice Department’s investigation into Epstein’s death and his alleged “client list.” Despite earlier promises of transparency during the 2024 campaign, the administration had for weeks refused to release further records after the DOJ and FBI issued a memo concluding there was no evidence of foul play in Epstein’s jail cell or the existence of a client list.

This stance has fueled a significant schism within the GOP, with many Trump supporters demanding the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bondi, even as the President continues to stand by her. Bondi recently initiated the process of unsealing grand jury transcripts in Epstein’s criminal case, though it remains unclear if a judge will grant the DOJ’s request.

In Congress, Greene has joined fellow Republicans Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO), along with several Democrats, are co-sponsoring legislation that would compel a vote on releasing the Justice Department’s records.

President Trump, however, has dismissed those still focused on the Epstein saga as “weaklings” falling for a “Democratic ‘scam'” and has declined to appoint a special prosecutor to the case. His recent lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, seeking $20 billion in damages for defamation over a report alleging he sent Epstein a raunchy birthday letter, further highlights the escalating tensions.

Over the weekend, Trump appeared to acknowledge the challenge of satisfying public demand for information, stating on TruthSocial, “With that being said, and even if the Court gave its full and unwavering approval, nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request. It will always be more, more, more. MAGA!”

The ongoing furor surrounding Epstein and the administration’s handling of related information continues to be a contentious issue, revealing a growing fissure between some of the President’s staunchest allies and his administration’s actions.
