A Georgia woman is facing a felony charge after the body of a 4-year-old child was allegedly discovered in the trunk of her car on Sunday.

Jessica Maria Motes was arrested on October 26 and charged with concealing the death of another person, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. She is currently being held without bond at the Hall County jail.

The situation unfolded when Motes’s father saw her in a Nissan sedan in the parking lot of Sam’s Club and Walmart Supercenter in Oakwood, Georgia. An arrest warrant alleges Motes told her father that she had “hurt” the child and “I think she is dead.”

Motes’s father then drove her out of the parking lot until they “eventually encountered law enforcement,” the warrant states. The child’s remains were “later found in the trunk of the Nissan sedan,” which is registered to Motes.

Authorities have not released details on the relationship between Motes and the child, nor have they specified the child’s cause of death.
