A 62-year-old German tourist died Saturday afternoon after a snorkeling excursion turned tragic off the coast of Key Largo, Florida.
Jurgen Peter Wolz was out in the water with a commercial snorkeling company at the popular Grecian Rocks reef when onlookers noticed he was unresponsive at around 1:30 p.m. Crew members pulled Wolz from the water and immediately began administering CPR on the boat.
Emergency rescue teams met the vessel at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to take over life-saving measures, but Wolz was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to local authorities, foul play is not suspected in the incident. An autopsy is currently pending to determine the official cause of death.
