LAKELAND, FL – A quick response by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) led to the swift capture of two individuals following a retail theft at a Lakeland Circle K Sunday morning.
The incident unfolded around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, when a PCSO deputy was dispatched to the Circle K located at 8324 US 98 North. A store employee reported that a man and a woman stole items and fled the scene in a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra.
It didn’t take long for deputies to spot the vehicle and quickly capture both suspects. They were identified as Lakeland residents Brenda Michelle Sasnett, 43, and Richard Jared Allen, 35.
While the pair were allegedly busy with the theft, it was Sasnett’s driving status that landed her in extra trouble. She was behind the wheel when the car was stopped, and authorities discovered her driver’s license was suspended.

Both Sasnett and Allen were taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and each charged with retail theft. Sasnett received an additional charge for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR).
Deputies say Allen is no stranger to law enforcement; he has a lengthy criminal history that includes charges such as Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Introduction of Contraband to a Detention Facility.
