GIBSONTON, Fla. – Hillsborough County is sending its Rapid Response team to the Gibsonton area next week to clear out household clutter before it becomes a code enforcement headache. Starting Monday, March 9, and running through Friday, March 13, residents in the River Cove and Gibsonton North neighborhoods can leave bulky items at the curb for free pickup, skipping the usual haul to the landfill.
The cleanup targets specific boundaries to help maintain property values and public health. In River Cove, the service area is tucked between Riverview Drive to the north and River Cove Drive to the south, stretching from Cobb Road east to Treasure Bayou.
For those in Gibsonton North, the sweep covers the area from the Alafia River down to Gibsonton Drive, between U.S. 41 and Alafia Street.
The county will take most standard junk, including old furniture, scrap metal, electronics, and up to five passenger tires. However, there are strict limits: crews will not touch yard waste, commercial-sized tires, or hazardous chemicals.
To ensure pickup, the county recommends putting items out the night before, but everything must be on the curb no later than 5 a.m. on the scheduled collection days.
Hillsborough County Code Enforcement officials are urging locals to use this window to tidy up their yards and homes.
“How a community looks can impact how residents feel,” the county noted in the announcement, pointing out that illegal dumping and property violations can drag down a neighborhood’s safety and value. By clearing out debris now, residents can “restore their property to avoid code violations.”
This service comes at no extra cost to the residents at the time of pickup, as it is funded through the annual solid waste assessments already paid by property owners. If you are unsure if your street is included or have questions about specific items, you can reach Code Enforcement at (813) 274-6600.
