Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political brawl with the Walt Disney Co. has exposed the proverbial strange bedfellows of American politics.

Another Republican presidential candidate is attacking the GOP governor from the left for challenging Disney after it argued for allowing teachers to instruct students as young as kindergartners in gender ideology and sexual orientation.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley invited Disney to relocate Disney World from Orlando to her home state.

Haley joined former President Donald Trump in ripping on DeSantis for battling Disney over its 56-year-old special tax district.

“If Disney would like to move their hundreds of thousands of jobs to South Carolina, and bring billions of dollar with them, I’ll be happy to meet them in South Carolina, and introduce them to the governor and Legislature that would welcome them,” Haley said during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

Haley made the pitch after claiming South Carolina is “very anti-woke,” which was an odd comment.

Disney committed the utmost act of wokeness by opposing Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law.

The law, enacted by DeSantis last year, prohibits classroom teachers and school districts from implementing lesson plans in grades K-3 that are based on gender ideology or sexual orientation.

DeSantis and Republican lawmakers have moved over the past two legislative sessions to strip Disney of the special tax district that has governed its property for nearly six decades. That was in response to Disney’s vow to get the law overturned in the courts or repealed in the Legislature.

Haley’s comments came the same day Disney filed a lawsuit claiming DeSantis was retaliating against it for opposing the law.

As more evidence of Haley’s shift to the left, she offered to welcome Disney after DeSantis criticized the company for openly acknowledging that it produced content intended to sexualize children and indoctrinate them in gender ideology.

As DeSantis noted last year, Disney had “pledged itself to attacking the parents in my state when that company has people very high up talking about injecting pansexualism into programming for young kids.”

“It’s wrong,” he added. “Walt Disney would not want that.”

National Review noted that Fox Business host Larry Kudlow, a former Trump adviser, and former New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie have also denounced DeSantis for fighting with Disney.

The Ridiculousness Of Trying To “Move” Disney

There are about 25 Disney-owned hotels located on the Walt Disney World property, and about 150 hotels located within a 10-mile radius of the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Walt Disney World Resort is located in Bay Lake, Florida, and is about 20 miles southwest of Orlando. The resort has four theme parks, two water parks, twenty-seven themed hotels, and numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment venues.

The Disney-owned hotels on the Walt Disney World property are divided into three categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. Value hotels are the most affordable option, and offer basic amenities. Moderate hotels offer more amenities and a higher level of service. Deluxe hotels offer the highest level of service and amenities, and are the most expensive option.

The hotels located within a 10-mile radius of the Walt Disney World Resort are a mix of independent hotels, chain hotels, and timeshare resorts.

One would have to wonder if Haley would foot the bill for the move or just needed the exposure in the media with floundering poll numbers.
