The race for Florida’s next governor gained clear momentum on Tuesday as State Representative Danny Alvarez officially threw his support behind Congressman Byron Donalds. With this latest endorsement, Donalds has now secured backing from more than 75% of the Republican members in the Florida House of Representatives.
The announcement highlights a consolidating wave of legislative support for Donalds among state GOP leaders, who point to his conservative platform and economic policies as central to his campaign.
In a statement accompanying the endorsement, Alvarez emphasized a shared legislative vision for the state’s future.

“Florida became the greatest state in the country because conservatives stood their ground and fought for a blueprint that puts freedom, families, and opportunity first,” Alvarez said. “Those are the principles we defend every single day in the Florida House, and they are the same principles Byron Donalds has fought for throughout his career. I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with Byron as our next Governor as we keep Florida strong, free, and leading the nation.”
Alvarez joins a high-profile list of endorsements for the Donalds campaign. The congressman has already secured backing from former President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, U.S. House leadership, and 17 members of Florida’s congressional delegation. Additionally, a majority of Florida sheriffs have publicly aligned with his bid for the governor’s mansion.
The latest influx of institutional support comes as Donalds’ campaign apparatus expands operations across all 67 Florida counties. The surge in endorsements aligns with recent internal and external polling data showing Donalds holding a commanding lead in both the Republican primary and early general election projections.
