GOP Lawmakers Call On Pentagon To Stop The Spread Of ‘Left-Wing Extremism’

Thirty Republican lawmakers this week sharply criticized the Biden administration for politicizing the last governmental and cultural institution that can command respect from the bulk of Americans: the U.S. military.

Since Joe Biden became president, the Pentagon seems to have focused more on labeling conservative troops its enemy, rather than preparing for actual enemies, like the Chinese military now aggressively asserting itself in the Pacific or the Iranian mullahs who feverishly seek to obtain nuclear weapons and whose minions harass U.S. ships and sailors.

In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin – whose signed included Florida Reps. Matt Gaetz, Greg Steube, and Brian Mast —  the GOP lawmakers questioned the “growing trend of left-wing extremism and politicization in our armed forces.”

“The military’s long history of standing above politics has made it one of the most respected institutions in America and enabled our armed forces to both defend the Homeland and serve as one of the bulwarks of our constitutional order. That legacy is now in jeopardy,” they wrote.

It is such because the Defense Department, under the guise of stopping “extremism” in the ranks, has seemingly bestowed liberal “political actors” with “broad freedom to both catechize and root out servicemembers who will not affirm far-left doctrines.”

One such political actor is Bishop Garrison, who was selected to lead the Pentagon task force allegedly in charge of eradicating “extremism.”

Garrison may want to start by looking in the mirror, since on social media he has labeled all pro-Trumpers racists.

The Republicans also cited Austin’s “stand-down” order to ideologically assess troops as another example, as well as the first-ever hiring of a “diversity and inclusion officer” for the elite Special Operations Command, Richard Torres-Estrada, who was reassigned just days after being brought on board because of the discovery of his “vast trove” of left social media posts, including one comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

The letter also notes the U.S. Army’s recruiting video that featured a soldier participating in left-wing social protests as “defending freedom,” and highlighted her mothers’ lesbian wedding; West Point’s anti-police and racist “Diversity and Inclusion” training; and the firing of Air Force Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, who had publicly criticized the “radical ideology” being foisted on the troops through the Marxist critical race theory program.

“This is hardly an exhaustive list,” the lawmakers noted.

“The sole purpose of the United States Military is to protect American citizens, defend American national security interests, and to fight and win wars when necessary,” they added.

“We urge you to use your authority to take action to fight back against the creeping left-wing extremism in the U.S. military.”
