Governor Ron DeSantis moved to fill seats on the State Board of Education today, announcing two new appointments and one reappointment to the body overseeing Florida’s K-12 and state college systems.
The Governor named Erika Fritz-Ochs and Luis Fuste to the board, while extending the tenure of Dr. Grazie Christie.
Fritz-Ochs brings direct classroom and policy experience to the post. Currently a program manager at the University of Florida’s Lastinger Center for Learning, her resume includes stints as a teacher in both Leon and Pasco County schools.

She has also worked inside the state government as an educational policy consultant for the Florida Department of Education and a training specialist for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. She holds two master’s degrees—one in educational leadership from Saint Leo University and another in elementary education from Nova Southeastern University.
Joining her is Luis Fuste, an attorney with Fuste Law, P.A. Fuste has a history of service on various state and local boards, including the Florida Commission on Ethics, the Board of Chiropractic Medicine, and the Doral College Board of Trustees. He earned his law degree from Florida International University.

Dr. Grazie Christie, who was reappointed to her seat, is a Miami-based radiologist with a quarter-century of diagnostic experience. Outside of her medical practice, she serves with Americans United for Life. She is a graduate of Columbia University and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
All three selections are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
