Gov. Noem Says America Needs A President Who Doesn’t Act Like A “Dimwit”

As China aggressively targets America, with tactics as varied as buying up farmland or floating a spy balloon across the entire country, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says the U.S. deserves a president who doesn’t act like a “dimwit.”

As China aggressively targets America, with tactics as varied as buying up farmland or floating a spy balloon across the entire country, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says the U.S. deserves a president who doesn’t act like a “dimwit.”

Noem, a Republican, made the comment about President Joe Biden late last week in an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News.

Hannity opened by praising Noem for banning TikTok, which is considered a tool of Chinese spies, on her government’s devices, and for moving to block the Chinese acquisition of South Dakota’s farmland.

“We’ve been aggressive on fighting this threat that President Biden will not address,” said Noem.

That now includes stopping China from purchasing swaths of America’s breadbasket.

Noem noted that a state bill to prohibit sales of farmland to China is rooted in a desire to protect South Dakota’s No. 1 industry.

But, she added, her state is also home to Ellsworth Air Force Base, which will soon be the roost for the B-21, the next generation, long-range stealth bomber.

“China would love to set up shop next door and conduct surveillance on that platform,” Noem told Hannity,” and we won’t allow it.”

“We will make sure our land stays under the United States’ control, and we won’t allow enemies that hate us to come in and purchase our assets.”

Noem continued, “I’ve been in food security policy for many, many years, over 20 years. I’ve seen China buy up our fertilizer companies, our chemical companies, they’ve bought up our processing systems, now they’re buying our land. And they’re doing it to destroy us.”

“And it’s time we get a president that wises up, loves this country, defends us, and stops acting like a dimwit in front of the whole world,” Noem added.

Hannity then asked Noem about the spy balloon within the context of a rash of objects recently shot down by the U.S. military.

Hannity said he didn’t know which was worse: That Biden allowed the balloon to traverse the entire country, including over multiple military bases, before shooting it down, or that he claimed to have “no earthly idea” what the military had shot down more recently with its hugely expensive Sidewinder missiles.

“All equally bad,” Noem replied.

She then shared that Biden’s Pentagon had alerted the South Dakota National Guard that it needed to be ready to take down the balloon and recover it, but did so without telling her. That occurred two days before the balloon was publicly identified as what it was.

She said by the time the Biden administration reached her, the balloon had already passed through South Dakota.

“This is the kind of deception we have going on,” she added. “They’ve lied to the American people.”

Noem then suggested that Biden shot the spy balloon down over the Atlantic Ocean so he could have the “easy narrative” of claiming the data it had gathered had been lost at sea, and they would never have to reveal how much our security was compromised.
