At a live press conference happening now, Gov. Ron DeSantis gave an update on the re-opening of Florida, including a full Phase 1 opening.

Effective Monday, in the State of Florida, gyms can now open as of with CDC recommended social distancing in place.

Starting Monday, restaurants will be able to operate at 50% capacity, now currently at 25% capacity. DeSantis said, “So I think that that’s something that a lot of the people in the restaurant industry we’re hoping for. I think it can be done safely, a lot of other states already went to that right off the bat. My initial recommendation was to do 50% but my task force wanted to ease into it.”

Professional sports venues can train. “It’s important to get sports back up in the state,” said DeSantis. “Let’s keep safety first.”

Retail will also be at 50% with guidance from the CDC and OSHA.

Amusement parks can submit a plan for re-opening to the State.

Movie theaters will remain closed for the time being, but drive-in theaters remain open.
