TAMPA, Fla.- Tampa Bay residents should keep their rain gear close at hand this week as a persistent weather pattern brings daily chances for rain and thunderstorms to the region. While Monday starts off warm with a high near 85, a 40 percent chance of storms will develop after 2 p.m. under partly sunny skies.
Winds will remain light, shifting to the north-northwest at 6 mph by the afternoon.
The moisture ramps up tonight with clouds moving in and a 50 percent chance of showers, particularly after midnight.
Temperatures will dip to a low of 62 as north-northeast winds pick up to 10 mph, with occasional gusts reaching 18 mph. Forecasters expect between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain, though areas hit by thunderstorms could see higher totals.
Tuesday brings a noticeable temperature drop and breezier conditions. The high will struggle to reach 73 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

Rain is likely before 2 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation continuing throughout the day. Northeast winds will stay steady at 11 to 16 mph, but gusts could hit 25 mph. By Tuesday night, the rain chance tapers off to 30 percent, primarily before 8 p.m., with a low around 62.
Midweek continues the damp trend. Wednesday features a high near 76 and a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon.
It will be a windy day, with east-northeast gusts potentially reaching 29 mph. That 60 percent rain chance carries into Wednesday evening before dropping slightly overnight.
Thursday maintains a 50 percent chance of storms with a high near 79, while Friday sees a slight reprieve with only a 30 percent chance of afternoon rain and a return to warmer temperatures in the low 80s.
The region finally catches a break next weekend; Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be mostly sunny and clear, with highs climbing back to 86 degrees by Sunday afternoon.
