A Friday afternoon discovery of a woman’s body on an apartment patio has led to the arrest of her 21-year-old grandson in Arlington, Texas. Rontrell Jackson was taken into custody on March 20 after a family member called police at 4:40 p.m. to report finding the 68-year-old victim unresponsive.
When officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying on the patio of her apartment, covered by a blanket. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
While her name has not been released to the public, investigators quickly turned their attention to Jackson, who lived at the residence.
According to the Arlington Police Department, the violence stemmed from a “heated argument” earlier that morning. The dispute reportedly centered on Jackson losing his allowance money.

During questioning, detectives say Jackson admitted to shooting his grandmother inside the apartment before dragging her body outside to the patio.
Police recovered a firearm from inside the home, which they believe was the weapon used in the shooting. Neighbors Jerry and Keiarra Dennis expressed shock over the motive behind the incident.
“For someone to have lost their life over an allowance, over a disagreement, that’s the part where it’s hard to process,” Keiarra Dennis told local news outlet WFAA.
Jackson has been charged with one count of murder. After an initial booking at the Arlington City Jail, he was transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. Records show he is currently being held there on a $750,000 bond.
