Two suspects are behind bars without bond following a homicide investigation that began with a grim discovery in the John Graham Homes neighborhood on Wednesday.
Detectives with the Rome Police Department swarmed the area near Hull Avenue and Cedar Avenue around noon after a woman’s body was found covered by blankets. While investigators worked the scene, witness accounts quickly pointed them toward a red passenger vehicle seen speeding away just moments before the body was located.
That tip sparked a regional dragnet. Authorities tracked the vehicle to neighboring Bartow County, where it was intercepted and stopped with help from the Georgia State Patrol and local deputies.

Police have identified the driver as 23-year-old Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor. He is facing a long list of serious charges, including two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and concealing the death of another.
During the stop, Taylor was also hit with traffic-related charges including fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, and theft by receiving stolen property. Authorities noted he is also being held on a separate detainer for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
A second suspect, 25-year-old Rolanda Monique Edwards, was also taken into custody. She is charged with being a party to a crime, concealing the death of another, and hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal.
Both Taylor and Edwards are currently being held without bond.

In a statement, the Rome Police Department credited the swift arrests to strong communication between agencies, thanking the Floyd County Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
“This case reflects the strength of regional law enforcement partnerships and our shared commitment to public safety,” the department stated.
The investigation remains active. Officials are urging anyone who may have seen something near the John Graham Homes area around noon to contact the Rome Police Department or dial 9-1-1.
