ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A Saturday night altercation inside a South St. Petersburg home ended in gunfire, leaving one man dead.
St. Petersburg Police officers arrived at a residence at 2501-1/2 7th Street South around 7:30 p.m. on February 14th after receiving reports that a man had been shot.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Denardo Woffard. According to investigators, Woffard died at the scene from his injuries.
Preliminary findings suggest that Woffard was an acquaintance of the man living at the address. The two reportedly got into a verbal argument that escalated, resulting in the resident shooting Woffard inside the home.

Detectives spent much of the night and early morning hours interviewing witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. While the shooter has been identified and questioned, police confirmed that no charges have been filed at this stage of the investigation.
The case remains active as authorities work to determine if the shooting was a matter of self-defense or if criminal charges are warranted. The department reiterated that the incident was isolated to the individuals involved and poses no broader danger to the community.
