Gunfire Near The US-Mexico Border: One Critical After Incident Involving Agents In Arizona

One person was shot and is currently in critical condition after an incident on Tuesday involving the Border Patrol. Authorities confirmed to the Associated Press that the shooting happened in Arivaca, Arizona, a community located about 10 miles north of the border with Mexico.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated that it is investigating the situation. They are working alongside the FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to determine what occurred.

As of Tuesday, spokespeople for both the FBI and Customs and Border Protection had not yet responded to requests for comment.

Emergency crews from the Santa Rita Fire District responded to the call. They reported that the wounded individual was treated at the scene and then transferred to a medical helicopter for transport to a regional trauma center. The fire district also noted that the injured person is in custody.
