SARASOTA, Fla. – A late-night shooting in Sarasota County has prompted an active police investigation, though authorities say residents have no reason to worry about their safety.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident, which took place near the 1700 block of Vamo Road. According to the department, the shooting occurred at 11:43 p.m. on June 12. First responders secured the area, and deputies have confirmed that there is no outstanding threat to the general public at this time.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section are now handling the case. Officials stated that they are actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the gunfire and may release more details to the community as the investigation moves forward.
