Guns, Grass, And Greed: Tampa Raid Ends In Three Arrests And A Massive Stash

TAMPA, Fla. – A Friday morning warrant sweep in a Tampa neighborhood has landed three men in jail after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives turned up a small arsenal and a significant supply of narcotics.

Members of the Gang Unit descended on the residence on April 24, 2026, executing a search warrant that quickly escalated from a routine arrest to a multi-felony investigation.

Once inside the home, investigators combed through the property and discovered a diverse collection of weaponry. The haul included a Glock 22, a semi-automatic shotgun, and two AR-15-style rifles.

Alongside the firearms, detectives seized a substantial amount of illegal drugs: 1.25 pounds of cannabis, a quantity of cocaine, and enough oxycodone to trigger trafficking charges. Scales and other drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the scene.

Jayshod Nereus, 30, was the primary focus of the initial warrant due to an outstanding reckless driving charge. However, the discovery of the stash added a long list of new legal headaches to his name.

Nereus is now facing charges for armed possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a short-barreled rifle.

He wasn’t the only one caught in the net. Janos Borgella, 26, is facing heavy-duty allegations, including armed trafficking in oxycodone (specifically between 25 and 100 grams) and armed possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.

The third individual, 32-year-old Ira Strappier, was taken into custody for an active warrant regarding a failure to appear in court. All three men were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail following the raid.
