The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) issued a formal demand on Monday for billionaire Michael Bloomberg to provide a full accounting of his past associations with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
The advocacy group is also calling on Everytown for Gun Safety—the prominent gun control organization co-founded by Bloomberg—to freeze all financial contributions from him until the nature of these connections is made public.
This push follows an investigative report published by The Reload, which analyzed a fresh batch of documents linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the analysis by editor Stephen Gutowski, Bloomberg’s name appears multiple times within the files. While the report clarifies that many references involve Bloomberg’s media company or professional contexts, other emails suggest a more personal social overlap with Epstein and Maxwell.
Notably, the report states there is currently no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the former New York City mayor, nor does it confirm the exact frequency of his attendance at Epstein-hosted events.
“Here’s a man who has spent millions of dollars supporting efforts to erode Second Amendment rights,” Gottlieb said. “He needs to be completely transparent regarding his relationship with Epstein and Maxwell, and in the meantime, Everytown should not take a penny from him, even though he is one of the group’s founders.
“It is alarming to learn Bloomberg’s name shows up at all in the released files,” he continued, “and that’s enough to warrant an explanation from Bloomberg. If there’s nothing to hide, Bloomberg shouldn’t be worried about clearing the air. The time to do that is right now. After all, he has advocated for so-called ‘expanded background checks’ on gun buyers for years. Maybe he’s the one who should face a thorough background check.
The CCRKBA also criticized what it perceives as a double standard in media coverage. Gottlieb suggested that if leaders within the pro-Second Amendment community had appeared in Epstein’s records, the story would be receiving significantly more attention from mainstream news outlets.
By demanding that Everytown stop accepting Bloomberg’s money, the CCRKBA is attempting to tie the billionaire’s personal reputation directly to the financial health of the gun control movement he largely bankrolls.
