POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 29-year-old woman from Haines City tragically lost her life in a collision with a tractor-trailer Friday night.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Bannon Island Road and Detour Road around 10:40 PM. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Ford Fiesta eastbound on Bannon Island Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign.

Her vehicle collided with the trailer of a southbound tractor-trailer driven by a 35-year-old man from Darby, Pennsylvania.
Sadly, the woman suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
