Hard-Charging Woke US Army General Gets Toasted In Battle – On Twitter

American troops are pulling out of Afghanistan and Iraq with dire consequences for citizens in both countries, and other nations hostile to U.S. interests are showing they are less intimidated with Democrat Joe Biden in the White House.

Yet the only fights our generals and admirals are spoiling for seem to be on Twitter – if one top commander is any indication.

In recent days Maj. Gen. Patrick Donahoe has shown a willingness to engage with the enemy – on social media – meaning his critics and not actual fighting forces of other nations.

Late last week, according to The Federalist, Donahoe, who is supposed to be in charge of Fort Benning, Georgia, home of the Amry’s infantry training center and one of America’s largest military bases, took on a Twitter critic who dared challenge his COVID alarmism.

In a tweet last week, Donahue claimed virus cases were spiking among new trainees and urged people to get vaccinated. “To get ahead get the shot,” the two-star general urged. “If you haven’t done so, do it right now. Delta variant aint (sic) playing.”

Josiah Lippincott, a doctoral student at Hillsdale College and a former U.S. Marine Corps artilleryman, questioned the urgency.

Lippincott pointed out that the Defense Department recorded 26 military suicides in the last quarter of 2020, the same number as all COVID-19 deaths in the past 18 months.

“The lockdowns, liberty restrictions, quarantines, and general disruption of servicemember lives is a way bigger killer than the virus,” he tweeted. Lippincott, who left the Marines last year, noted the adverse effects of lockdowns and masking. “Suicide is an intentional act. Car accidents are not. When policy treats healthy soldiers as biological hazards we shouldn’t be surprised by an increase in suicide and psychological problems,” he wrote.

In response, Donahoe tweeted, “Hey @Hillsdale come get your boy.”

When another Twitter user responded to that by asking the general how many wars he had won, Donahoe shot back, “Don’t be a shill for Putin.”

Answering that, journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted, “An actual active Major General in the US Army, @PatDonahoeArmy, accusing people who question him on Twitter that they’re ‘shills for Putin.’ Seems he’s thinking more about how to score a Morning Joe appearance than anything related to defending the U.S.”

Which invited another retort from the general: “Public Service Announcement: Block and report the trolls and the disinformation tinfoil hat team.”

To which another Donahoe critic tweeted, “First the threat was climate changes. Then it was white supremacy. Now it’s Twitter trolls. What is the army for again?”

That seems to be an apt question at Biden’s Pentagon. Let’s hope one of our enemies doesn’t answer believe they can answer that question for us.
