Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire at A. P. Leto High School located at 4409 W Sligh Avenue in Tampa. As crews arrived, they found smoke billowing from the roof of the art building.

HCFR Crews Battle Fire At A. P. Leto High School Overnight

TAMPA, FL. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire at A. P. Leto High School located at 4409 W Sligh Avenue in Tampa. 

As crews arrived, they found smoke billowing from the roof of the art building. 

Firefighters quickly identified the source of the smoke and extinguished the flames. 

Crews worked for hours to break apart areas of the roof that were still smoldering to ensure the fire was completely out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there was planned construction on the roof where the fire originated.

The arts building sustained fire, smoke, and water damage, but the remainder of the school was not affected by the incident. 

Classes at A.P. Leto High School will resume as normal.
