A Florida substitute teacher is behind bars after police say he pressured one underage girl for explicit photos and sex, then later had sex with a different teen in his car—and demanded a sexual act from another minor.
Marsel Javaris Smith, 27, worked as a sub in Broward County for three years, most recently at Northeast High School, according to arrest reports reviewed by WTVJ and CBS Miami.
The trouble started in October, investigators say. Smith allegedly approached a girl after class and asked for her number.
From there, police say, he bombarded her with messages asking for “exclusive” snaps and videos.
“Dang you making wanna see more videos and pics but a lil more you know exclusive,” he wrote after the teen turned down one request. The girl, who is under 18, kept refusing.

Smith kept pushing: “But come on think of everything I be at your school. You can trust me.”
On Oct. 14, Smith met the same girl at a fast‑food restaurant. There, police say, he demanded a sex act. She said no. Five days later, he picked her up and drove to Osswald Park in Fort Lauderdale. According to the arrest report, he had sex with her in his car.
“She advised the defendant ‘no’ multiple times and did not want to engage in any sexual activity,” police wrote. Smith also tried to get her into an empty classroom at school, but she refused.
The girl eventually told a school security officer, who alerted authorities. Smith was arrested Friday. When detectives asked if he had taken the girl to Osswald Park, he said he was “unable to remember” and ended the interview.

While investigating that case, police learned about a second alleged victim. Investigators say Smith demanded a sex act from another girl whose age hasn’t been released. They haven’t shared many details yet, only that he messaged her after she gave him her number.
Smith appeared in court Saturday.
The judge laid out the charges: “You’ve been charged with soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship as an authority figure with a minor and sexual battery by somebody 24 years of age or older on a victim 16 or 17 years of age.”
He has been ordered to have no contact with either girl and is banned from teaching anywhere in the county.
