‘He Does Not Have Faith’: Georgia Rep. MTG Slams Trump In Stunning Break From President

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene offered a blistering critique of President Donald Trump in an interview with The New York Times, asserting that the President has demonstrated a complete lack of Christian faith. The Georgia Republican drew a sharp line between Trump’s recent rhetoric and the actions of Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The rebuke stems from the aftermath of a September 21 memorial service honoring Charlie Kirk. During the emotional service, Erika Kirk publicly forgave Tyler Robinson, the man alleged to have assassinated her husband, stating that forgiveness was “what Christ did.”

In stark contrast, Greene noted that President Trump used the moments immediately following that gesture to declare that he “hates his political opponents.”

Greene described the timing of the President’s comments as revealing.

“That was absolutely the worst statement,” Greene said. “It just shows where his heart is. And that’s the difference, with her having a sincere Christian faith, and proves that he does not have any faith.”

The Congresswoman told the Times that witnessing Erika Kirk’s grace forced her to confront her own contributions to political divisiveness. She admitted that the conservative movement’s tendency to “keep pummeling” enemies had become unsustainable.

“After Charlie died, I realized that I’m part of this toxic culture,” Greene said. “I really started looking at my faith. I wanted to be more like Christ.”

This shift in tone follows a recent appearance on CNN, where Greene apologized for her past use of divisive language, stating she was “humbly” sorry for participating in “toxic politics” that she now views as harmful to the country.

The public questioning of the President’s faith marks the latest and perhaps most personal escalation in a rapidly deteriorating relationship between the two Republicans. The alliance reportedly fractured over policy and transparency disagreements, specifically regarding the release of files related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the administration’s decision to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities.

Trump withdrew his support for Greene in November, repeatedly labeling her a “traitor.” In a November 16 interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Greene alleged the split was driven entirely by her push for transparency regarding the Epstein files.

“I stand with rape victims. I stand with children who are in terrible sex abuse situations… And I will not apologize for that,” she told Bash.

Greene has announced she plans to resign from Congress on January 5, 2026.
