HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – An 80-year-old Valrico woman has died following a two-vehicle, nearly head-on collision on US-301 near Harney Baptist Church Road on Monday. The crash, which occurred around 11:42 AM.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 67-year-old woman from Riverview was driving a Nissan Altima northbound in the southbound lanes of US-301. The report indicates she was experiencing a medical emergency at the time.
Her vehicle collided nearly head-on with a southbound Toyota Corolla driven by a 74-year-old Valrico woman. The crash occurred close to the intersection of Harney Baptist Church Road.
Both drivers were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tragically, a passenger in the Toyota Corolla, an 80-year-old Valrico woman, suffered serious injuries in the collision. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
