A powerful explosion rocked a state-sanctioned rally in central Tehran on Friday, as precision strikes targeted an area where thousands had gathered for Quds Day to call for the destruction of Israel and the United States. The strike followed a clear warning from Israeli forces to evacuate the district, according to reports from the Associated Press.

The blast occurred near Ferdowsi Square as the crowd chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” While Iranian officials reported no immediate casualties, the strike demonstrates a high level of operational capability nearly two weeks into a conflict sparked by Iranian aggression.

Despite the ongoing war, which has seen Iran launch daily missile attacks on neighbors and block international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. and Israel have continued to systematically dismantle Iranian military infrastructure.

Uncertainty continues to swirl around the Iranian leadership. Mojtaba Khamenei, who took power after his father was killed at the war’s onset, has not been seen in public.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth noted that Khamenei is “wounded and likely disfigured,” reinforcing the belief that the regime’s top echelons have been directly impacted by the opening stages of the campaign.

The economic fallout of Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz has kept global oil prices above $100 per barrel. However, the U.S. and its allies remain committed to restoring order to the region. U.S.

President Donald Trump underscored this resolve in a social media post earlier Friday, stating that Iran’s military has been decimated and describing the opposition as “deranged scumbags” whose leadership is being “wiped from the face of the earth.”

As the war continues, the focus remains on neutralizing the Iranian regime’s ability to threaten global energy security and its neighbors, with the U.S. military vowing that the campaign will intensify until its objectives are met.
