President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran, promising “strong action” if the regime moves forward with the execution of a protester detained just days ago. The warning comes as the U.S. State Department and family members signal that the execution could happen as early as today, marking a sharp escalation in Tehran’s handling of widespread anti-government demonstrations.
The detainee, who was taken into custody last Thursday, has become the latest flashpoint in a crackdown that a U.S.-based rights group says has already claimed over 2,400 lives.
Trump blasted the potential killing, cautioning Iranian leadership against harming those in custody. Addressing the demonstrators directly, the President urged them to continue their push for change, adding that “help is on its way.”

The White House has not yet specified what measures would constitute the “strong action” Trump threatened, leaving the diplomatic and military implications open as the deadline for the prisoner looms.
