A 29-year-old Missouri woman, Makayla Haedt, was arrested last month after she allegedly delivered a cooler containing a human fetus to the home of a former romantic partner, telling him, “here’s your kid.”

The incident, which the former lover described to police as a “cruel f—–d up joke,” led to Haedt’s arrest on September 18, 2025, on charges of Harassment in the First Degree, according to an affidavit filed by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Kobi Gasek of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Laddie Lane in Waynesville at approximately 2:48 a.m. on September 18, following reports of a deceased fetus in a cooler.

The victim told deputies that he and Haedt had an on-again, off-again romantic “fling” over the past few years, but that he had come to believe she was a “habitual liar.” He stated that he had not believed her one to two months prior when she advised him she was pregnant.

The victim told police that on the afternoon of September 17, Haedt messaged him, stating she had a miscarriage. Later that evening, after the two ran errands together, the man was burning trash at his home when Haedt reportedly tossed what appeared to be a Walmart bag containing clothes into the fire.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Haedt allegedly handed him a red and white cooler secured with green tape, stating, “here’s your kid,” before driving away. The man stated that Haedt “didn’t show any sign of remorse or anything when she said it.”

Believing it was a “cruel f—–d up joke” and thinking the cooler contained drinks, the man placed it on the ground and sat next to it for over an hour, hesitant to open it out of fear it might actually contain a deceased fetus.

After speaking with family and friends, he had a friend accompany him to open the cooler. Upon observing the fetus, the man closed the cooler and immediately contacted the Sheriff’s office.

Deputy Gasek, upon opening the cooler to verify the contents, observed what appeared to be a human fetus. Detectives and the Coroner were notified, and the Coroner took possession of the cooler and its contents for transport to a medical facility.

The affidavit notes that the man (victim) appeared to be in emotional distress, often staring at the ground, stating things like, “this is the type of thing you see on the internet all the time, but don’t ever think it will happen to you.”

The Sheriff’s Office affidavit asserts that Haedt committed Harassment in the First Degree when she, “without good cause, gave the victim the cooler containing a deceased fetus, stating ‘here’s your kid,’ causing him emotional distress.”

Makayla Haedt was arrested on September 18, 2025. Authorities also cited a failure to appear for a previous court date as a reason to believe she would not appear in the current case.
