HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was rushed to an area trauma center Saturday afternoon after a single-car rollover crash along Cortez Boulevard left them pinned inside the wreckage.
First responders from Hernando County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene, located just east of Spring Lake Highway, shortly after 2 p.m. on August 29.
When emergency crews arrived, they found an overturned vehicle with one person trapped inside. Firefighters quickly set up extraction equipment and managed to free the driver in under 10 minutes.
Paramedics provided immediate emergency care on the roadside before transferring the patient to a Med-Trans Florida medical helicopter. The individual was flown to a nearby trauma facility as a trauma alert due to the severity of the incident.
Officials have not released the identity of the driver or provided further details regarding their current medical condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
