Kevin Harris Hernando County Firefighter

Hernando County Firefighter Battling COVID-19, Fundraiser For Family Launched

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – As Covid-19 restrictions ease, many are still affected and are a reminder that the pandemic isn’t over. One of those is the Harris family in Hernando County.

Kevin Harris is a Firefighter-Paramedic with Hernando County Fire & Emergency services, where he has served the Hernando community for two decades. He is also a loving husband and father of two sons.

Late in May, Kevin tested positive for Covid-19 and was intubated in the ICU. While in the hospital, he suffered blood clots, stroke, and neurological emergencies. Doctors are hopeful he will be discharged but in the meantime, Kevin remains in the ICU.

After he has served his community for so many years, they are now helping him. A GoFundMe has been set up to support Kevin and his family during this difficult time.

The organizer of the fundraiser, Emily Carlsen said, “Please keep Kevin and his family in your prayers. His family, friends, and fire department brothers and sisters have shown so much support. Please consider showing your support during his illness and recovery.”
