HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Sunday evening in Ridge Manor took a terrifying turn just before 7 p.m. when a person was struck by lightning, but thanks to the swift and expert response of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR), the individual was successfully resuscitated.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they found the patient in cardiac arrest. HCFR paramedics immediately initiated Advanced Life Support (ALS) treatment. Their efforts proved critical, as the patient was successfully resuscitated during transport to a local hospital.

No additional information regarding the patient’s current condition has been released at this time.

HCFR strongly recommends staying indoors for at least 30 minutes after the storm has seemingly passed, as residual strikes can still occur.
